Locals Only: See preview of theater company's season

Think of it as sitting in a movie theater and watching all the trailers, just without a bunch of teenagers making out and texting all around you.

Las Vegas Little Theatre is presenting a free season preview at 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at 3920 Schiff Drive.

The event will include brief readings from each of the 2013-14 season’s Mainstage shows: “Amateurs,” “It Runs in the Family,” “Barefoot in the Park,” “And Then There Were None,” “Picnic” and “Other Desert Cities.”

“God of Carnage,” “A Behanding in Spokane,” “Hunter Gatherers” and “True West,” which will be part of the upcoming Black Box season, also will be previewed.

For more information, contact the box office at 702-362-7996 or see www.LVLT.org.

He makes his local spoken-word debut at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the open-mic night at the Freakin’ Frog, 4700 S. Maryland Parkway; he’ll also sign copies of his latest book, “Now and Then.”

Free floats

Free root beer floats! And help for wounded warriors!

Participating local outlets of A&W Root Beer will give away free root beer floats between 2 p.m. and closing Tuesday, which is, coincidentally, National Root Beer Float Day.

Anyone who asks can get a free root beer float; in return, they’ll be asked to make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides services to service members and their families. Donations can be made directly at www.AWRestaurants.com/WoundedWarrior.
