Mesquite revs up for weekend's Motor Mania event

Mesquite will be hopping Friday through Sunday when the fourth annual $15,000 Mesquite Motor Mania invades the city.

With 600 classic cars on display, the event is promoted by the Las Vegas Cruisin' Association. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday.

Open header cruises to each of the Mesquite hotels begin 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Show and Shine displays and vendors are on hand throughout the event.

On Friday and Saturday, roaring engines competitions take place at noon, with slow drags/burnout competitions at 4 p.m., all at the CasaBlanca parking lot.

The Smokin' Big Chili Challenge cook-off joins the festivities Saturday and Sunday at the CasaBlanca. An awards ceremony is set for 1 p.m. Sunday in the CasaBlanca Showroom.
