CineVegas making cameo appearance

CineVegas, the late, great film festival that showcased everything from the world premiere of "€œArtie Lange'€™s Beer League" to a star-studded red carpet with the cast of "Ocean'€™s Thirteen," is coming back.

Sort of.

CineVegas is presenting three features and a short film as part of the 2015 Las Vegas Film Festival, scheduled for Aug. 13-15, at downtown's Inspire Theater.

"€œCall Me Lucky"€ is director Bobcat Goldthwait's acclaimed documentary about his mentor, stand-up comic Barry Crimmins.

Another documentary, director Adam Rifkin'€™s "€œGiuseppe Makes A Movie,"€ follows former child actor Giuseppe Andrews and the demented films he shoots in a trailer park.

Former CineVegas honoree Viggo Mortensen stars in the historical drama "€œJauja."€

And Las Vegas filmmaker Tom Barndt presents his new short film, "€œThe Paranormal Idiot."

"€œAfter a few years away, we couldn'€™t be more thrilled to return to the Las Vegas film scene. "We'€™re very pleased to be presenting such a strong array of films with ties to CineVegas,"€ CineVegas President Robin Greenspun said in a statement.

Greenspun'€™s documentary, "Semicolon; The Adventures of Ostomy Girl,"€ is also part of the Las Vegas Film Festival.

Founded in 1999, CineVegas honored an array of stars — including Jack Nicholson, Anthony Hopkins, Sean Penn, Charlize Theron, Sylvester Stallone, Helen Mirren and the late Dennis Hopper, who would go on to become the chairman of the festival'€™s creative advisory board — before folding after its 2009 edition because of the economic downturn.
