Serj Tankian to kick out the jams

When fronting System of a Down, Serj Tankian gives loud, elastic voice to slippery alt-metal.

On his own, Tankian tends to explore the deeper recesses of his record collection, which seems to include plenty of classical concertos, film scores, bebop and art rock.

Of course, Tankian still kicks out the jams when the mood strikes, as he does with some frequency on his latest solo disc, "Harakiri," which is more suited for mosh pits than those of the orchestral variety.
