‘Twin Peaks’ coming back after 25 years
“I will see you again in 25 years.”
Well, Laura Palmer wasn’t wrong.
“Twin Peaks” creator David Lynch confirmed the show’s revival through Showtime on Twitter Monday morning after years of speculation.
A link tweeted by Lynch led to a video on Showtime’s YouTube channel announcing that the cult-hit will return as a limited series in 2016.
Lynch will write and produce nine episodes with co-creator Mark Frost, with each episode directed by Lynch.
Set in present day, the show will follow the original series story line and will be “providing long-awaited answers and a satisfying conclusion for the series’ passionate fanbase.”
Fans began speculating on Friday what will happen with the show after Lynch and Frost simultaneously tweeted “Dear Twitter friends: That gum you like is going to come back in style! #damngoodcoffee.”
It was tweeted at 11:30 a.m., the same time Kyle MacLachlan’s Agent Dale Cooper enters the town of Twin Peaks in the pilot episode of the 1990s drama. “Damn good coffee” was a phrase frequently used by Cooper, typically while eating cherry pie.
It is not known if MacLachlan will reprise his role for the series, however, according to The Guardian, that’s a possibility.
