SHOW AND TELL: Meet Jessica Broomhead

Meet Jessica Broomhead

“Veronic: Voices”

Hometown: Dallas

Age: 25

Started dancing at age 4 and knew by age 6 that “this was my destiny.” … Also competed in pageants and did baton twirling. … Won a national “teen dancer of the year” title at 13 that allowed her to travel. … Attended the University of Arizona for a year-and-a-half before accepting an offer from Royal Caribbean. … Performed for three years on cruise ships, where she met her husband, Mark (they married in 2011). … Danced in “Jubilee!” in 2011 (“Being 5-11, I kind of always knew the showgirl thing was a part of my destiny”). … Is a charter cast member of “Veronic: Voices.”

On falling in love with dance as a kid:

“I think I was a little bit shy in real life, and maybe it was just a great outlet for me. But I just loved it, and once I started getting good at it, I felt really comfortable in my skin and it gave me that outlook to express different emotions. (Laughs) You know how everybody has a style when you do solos? I was always the girl who did angry, sad, melancholic solos. … That acting and getting to be someone else for 2½ minutes, I loved it.”
