Shanghai Nights

Get a taste of 1930s Shanghai at Mandarin Oriental’s weekly party, Shanghai Nights.

Every Tuesday starting Sept. 10, Mandarin Bar will transform into an “Asian-style speakeasy” decorated with lanterns, red lighting and other touches that mimic the decor of that era. The hotel’s executive chef has created a special menu of cocktails and small bites that invoke Shanghai cuisine, including rice pepper roll with Alaskan king crab and jelly fish and a selection of dim sum. The Shaun DeGraff Trio will play jazz and contemporary music.

Mandarin Bar opens at 5 p.m.; live music is from 6 to 10 p.m. For more information or to reserve a table, call 888-881-9367. Fountain change

Toss your change into a water feature at the Miracle Mile Shops in Planet Hollywood Resort and you could help a family affected by bullying.

Through September, the mall will donate all of its change collected from its fountains and indoor rainstorm pool to Nevada PEP, a nonprofit that provides support to families of children with disabilities. The donation is part of Miracle Mile’s Caring, Giving, Changing community campaign. The money will go toward Nevada PEP’s anti-bullying campaign, which culminates in a 5k run and 1.5k walk Sept. 29.

If you want to sign up for the event or donate, contact nvpep.org or call 702-388-8899.
