Specials, drawings planned for 'Big Game'

The "Big Game" between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants is Sunday (and due to NFL regulations, casinos cannot use the "SB" word in advertising). While many of the planned events are invitation only, you can still join the fun at several casinos throughout the valley. The Orleans' "Sunday Tailgate Party" gives all game bettors tickets for six $500 drawings at the end of the first three quarters and six $1,000 drawings at the end of the game. Both the Eldorado and Jokers Wild are giving away a limited edition T-shirt to anyone making a $20 parlay bet or a $50 straight bet. All $20 bettors at Jerry's Nugget have a chance to win cash and prizes during the game and will receive a drawing ticket to the "Big Game Blackjack Tournament" featuring $2,000 in prizes.

Effective today, Fiesta Rancho and Fiesta Henderson Amigo Club points can be redeemed for free play at a rate of 600 points equals $1 free play. This applies to points earned from Jan. 25 forward. Also within the past week, the few machines at these properties that took $2 to earn one point (primarily, but not exclusively, over-100 percent video poker) now require $4 to earn that same point.

Throughout February, El Cortez players hitting a $200-plus jackpot on slots or a $300-plus jackpot on video poker can pick up a fleece jacket or a $10 gasoline/grocery/gift card.

Texas Station is running $10,000 Slot Tournaments every Sunday this month. Boarding Pass members receive one entry for every 150 points earned during the previous week. There will be more than 50 winners each Sunday including a $700 grand prize. The casino also is offering free blackjack tournaments on Saturdays in February.

All Rampart Rewards members can enter each day of the Rampart $35,000 slot tournament running Thursday through Feb. 10. The top five daily scorers receive $100-$500, plus they (and the next five top scorers) move on to the final round at 8 p.m. Feb. 10, where the top 27 players will receive $100-$10,000 (an additional $5,000 will be given away via a drawing).
