‘The A-Team’ hits the big screen

Movie: “The A-Team”

When: Opening Friday at local theaters

Cast: Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel, Sharlto Copley, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Patrick Wilson

Director: Joe Carnahan

The story: Framed for a crime they didn’t commit, Iraq war veterans try to clear their names — while fighting on as soldiers of fortune.

The buzz: “If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.” That motto still applies as the ’80s TV staple hits the big screen, with Neeson taking charge as commander John “Hannibal” Smith, Cooper as Templeton “Faceman” Peck, “District 9’s” Copley as “Howling Mad” Murdock” and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as B.A. Baracus. Sadly, George Peppard (the original Hannibal) died in 1994, so he isn’t around to make a cameo appearance, and Mr. T (the original B.A.) has reportedly nixed a cameo. But look for Dirk Benedict (TV’s “Faceman”) and Dwight Schultz (the original “Howling Mad”) to turn up; they’re listed in the update’s cast.
