Lady Gaga to sing national anthem for Super Bowl 50

Pop star and actress Lady Gaga will sing The Star-Spangled Banner before Super Bowl 50 on Sunday, the NFL and CBS announced Tuesday.

The national anthem will be part of the pregame activities televised live from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., to a worldwide audience before the Denver Broncos face the Carolina Panthers.

Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin will perform the anthem in American Sign Language.

Lady Gaga recently won a Golden Globe award and she is scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 15.

The league earlier announced that Coldplay will be one of the artists performing at halftime. The band will be joined by Beyonce.
