How HGTV’s ‘Property Brothers’ spend their time in Vegas

At any given time, brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott could be renovating, selling or listing a client’s house on any of their HGTV reality shows, including “Property Brothers,” “Buying and Selling” and “Brother vs. Brother.”

When they aren’t traveling 300-plus hours a year for work, the 37-year-old twins enjoy their downtime in Las Vegas, where they have shared a home since 2011.

For our weekly Entertainment Diet, the Scotts offer an inside look at what they do in their spare time, sparse though it may be.

Dining

Jonathan: I think Aria has some of the best restaurants. Though in general, we really enjoy trying something different or trying to find a hole-in-the-wall place. We do try to mix it up, but if we can do Sushi, we will. The more sushi, the better.

Drew: The big thing for us is we like to entertain at the house and have people over. We also have a chef make our meals to give us more clean options and well-balanced options. We also love doing brunch at Brio with a lot of friends.

Books

Jonathan: I read a lot of autobiographies. I don’t get a lot of downtime. I try to read on a plane, but when you’re traveling 300 hours on a plane, you sleep when you can. Typically, I always try to read the latest news. I just read Steve Martin’s autobiography and Dennis Leary’s before that. I guess I’m on comedian binge. I think I’m gonna grab Amy Schumer’s book as my next one.

Drew: I don’t grab a lot of books these days, but I’m always reading about hot topics in tech and looking at what’s groundbreaking and innovative. I try to find what’s trending on Twitter or Google.

Travel

Jonathan: Outside of Vegas, one of the last places I traveled to was Munich for Oktoberfest. It was a lot of fun. As a group, we have a lot of fun going on road trips to places like Laughlin.

Drew: We do a lot of little getaways in or around town. Because we are so busy, if we are doing a quick getaway to L.A. or somewhere we can take a plane, we do that instead of driving. Try to make the most of our time.

Hangouts

Drew: I like to go rock climbing at Red Rock and doing hikes around there. Even in the cooler months it’s nice. I think there are a lot of hidden spots around town like Spring Mountain Ranch. One of the best things about being in Vegas is the great shows that come in town. One of the last things we saw was the Michael Jackson show. But I would have to say “Absinthe” is probably one of my favorites. I’ve enjoyed the Cirque shows, but “O” is probably one of my favorites. I think we’ve seen that four or five times.

Jonathan: We’ve been here almost eight years and we just had our first trip to Hoover Dam. We recently went to the Neon Museum and had a lot fun when we shot there a little while back for “Brother vs. Brother.” There is a lot of interesting history there. Another good one we like to do is Escape Room. We travel to so many cities, but we try to find the different Escape Rooms. You just gotta make sure you only bring your intelligent friends.

Music

Jonathan: I have a little Taylor Swift, some Muse, some Adele. It’s a good mix.

Drew: Our parents were over one night playing cards, and I put on my playlist. I had a good mixture of songs from the blues to electro dance mix. Jonathan and I like a lot of same stuff.

Movies/TV

Drew: Right now, I’ve been watching “American Horror Story” and “Homeland.” There isn’t always a lot of time to check out movies.

Jonathan: I think the last film I saw was “Joy.” I have to say the latest “Star Wars” was great to watch.
