'Youth in Revolt' opening Friday

Movie: "Youth in Revolt"

When: Opening Friday at local theaters

Cast: Michael Cera, Portia Doubleday, Jean Smart, Justin Long, Mary Kay Place, Fred Willard, Ray Liotta, Steve Buscemi, Zach Galifianakis

Director: Miguel Arteta

The story: On vacation, bookish Nick Twisp (Michael Cera) falls for pretty, precocious prep school student Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday) -- and invents an arrogant "supplementary persona," bad-boy Frenchman François Dillinger (also played by Cera), to help him win the girl of his dreams.

The buzz: After "Superbad," "Juno," "Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist" and "Paper Heart," it may seem as though Cera's repeating himself with yet another tale of geek lust, this one based on novelist C.D. Payne's cult tales about Twisp's mischievous misadventures. But "Youth in Revolt" has been sitting on the shelf for a while -- long enough for breakout "Hangover" co-star Zach Galifianakis to be elevated to prominence in this movie's latest trailer.
