Truth, justice, ice cream

I knew that, once again, Taste of the Town readers would come through!

In response to Jane Kidd, a former Michigander who's looking for Superman ice cream for her daughter, whom she describes as "very pregnant," fellow readers Janice Giannosa and Charlee Rodriguez each produced a small-town source: Grandma Daisy's Candy & Ice Cream Parlor in Boulder City and the Inside Scoop in Overton.

The ice cream is called Scooper Hero and is made by Blue Bunny, and a call confirmed it's in the requisite colors of bright blue, red and yellow.

Grandma Daisy's is at 530 Nevada Way, on one of Boulder City's main drags; the Inside Scoop is at 395 S. Moapa Valley Blvd. on Overton's only main drag. ...

For Dee Wolff, who's looking for fresh halvah, Gerry Baxter recommended Bagel Cafe, which is at 301 N. Buffalo Drive, and Marv Unell suggested Weiss Restaurant Deli & Bakery at 2744 N. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson. ...

For Lisa Haley, who's looking for Dennison's chili with no beans, Baxter reported spotting it at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 540 Marks St. in Henderson. ...

For Kris Kantebet, who's looking for ginger sauce/dressing similar to those served in Japanese restaurants, Carole Manganaris emailed to say she uses Maple Grove Farms of Vermont's sesame-ginger dressing, which she gets at Smith's at 55 Valle Verde Drive in Henderson. ...

More on scrapple: a representative of www. WestCoastScrapple.com (425-449-9107) emailed to say the company ships scrapple . ...

More on pastina: Libby Casolari said it's available at Glazier's Food Marketplace, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road. ...

Here are more reader requests.
