A month after Kirk Kerkorian opened the International Hotel in 1969, Elvis came in and became the reigning King with more than 800 sold-out shows. The Hilton Corp. bought the hotel-casino in 1971; today it is owned and operated by Colony Resorts. Located next to the Las Vegas Convention Center, it is about 1/2 mile from the Las Vegas Strip.
