The hotel-casino opened Dec. 22, 2005, as the South Coast, owned by Coast Casinos, a subsidiary of Boyd Gaming Corp. Former Coast Casino CEO Michael Gaughan bought the property in 2006 and renamed it South Point. It is located at Las Vegas Boulevard South at Silverado Ranch, just minutes from the Strip.
