11-year-old’s ‘Over the Rainbow’ salutes Black History Month

Gigi Jordan didn’t win an Oscar for her performance Friday night. But her rendition of the Academy Award-winning song sung by Judy Garland for the 1939 “Wizard of Oz” film, won the hearts of those who watched her at Cambridge Recreation Center.

Jordan, an 11-year-old student at Becker Middle School, sang “Over the Rainbow” as her salute to Black History Month. With her sweet, soulful voice and charming smile she reminded the crowd that “the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.”
