SIGNINGS

Former Nevada Gov. Bob Miller will sign “Son of a Gambling Man: My Journey From a Casino Family to the Governor’s Mansion” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Barnes & Noble, 2191 N. Rainbow Blvd.

Phyllis Hughley-Edwards will sign her children’s book “Nana’s Magical Closet” noon-4 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, 567 N. Stephanie St., Henderson.

Simone Salen will sign “My Father’s Lost Diary: A Personal Account of the Jewish Holocaust in Europe (1937-1942) by Israel ‘Sol’ Goldhirsch” at 7 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, 2191 N. Rainbow Blvd.

EVENTS

Poet, author and screenwriter Jim Daniels, an English professor at Carnegie Mellon University, will do two presentations at the College of Southern Nevada, West Charleston campus, 6375 W. Charleston Blvd. A reading and lecture will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Room K-101 of K Building, and at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Room B-201 of B Building. Both events are free and open to the public.

The Amazing Reads Book Club meets at 5:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd.

Book Lovers’ Bistro meets at 5:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Whitney Library, 5175 E. Tropicana Ave.

The Brown Bag Book Club meets at 11 a.m. the second Thursday of the month at the Laughlin Library, 2840 S. Needles Highway.

Valley of Fire building new visitor center

Nevada officials say the new visitor center at Valley of Fire State Park will feature “state of the art” exhibits that explain the park’s cultural and geological history.
