Favorite Sons & Daughters, July 10

Bailey Fullmer, 12, a student at Tarkanian Middle School, competed in the National Barrel Riding Association Championships at the South Point Equestrian Center.

Bailey took second place on May 31 and first place on June 3. More than 700 contestants competed.

Bailey is the daughter of Pat and Amber Fullmer and the granddaughter of Keith and Diana Hafen.

Jasmine Jackson, 23, graduated from UNLV in May with a bachelor's degree in marketing.

While attending UNLV, Jackson pledged the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and worked as a substitute teacher for the Clark County School District. She plans to return to school for a master's degree.

Jackson is the daughter of Joy and Derek Pullin, and Marvin and the late Lillian Jackson.

Bryan Meyn, 20, has graduated from Army basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., with the distinguished honor graduate award.

A 2010 graduate of Centennial High School, Meyn is the son of Jolyn Meyn of Las Vegas.

Allison Bustos, 15, was chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Nevada Pageant July 6-8 in Las Vegas. Allison participated in the junior teen age division.

She enjoys dancing, reading, singing, being part of her school's theater guild, playing piano, traveling, designing her own shoes, modeling, creative writing and spending time with her family.

Allison is the daughter of Amee Bustos of Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Track Club presented scholarship grants to the following 2012 high school graduates:

n Lizbeth Aguilar, Southeast Career Technical Academy, $1,000.

n Summer Holloway, Green Valley High School, $1,000.

n Suzanne Paul, Desert Oasis High School, $1,000.

n Andrew Blaine, Shadow Ridge High School, $1,500.

n Benjamin Clemens, Cimarron-Memorial High School, $1,500.

n Julian Jalani, Bishop Gorman High School, $1,500.

n Douglas Harris, Green Valley High School, $2,500.

n Taylor Stueve, Bishop Gorman High School, $2,500.

n Julianna Thornock, Clark High School, $2,500.

Kohl's Department Stores' Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program has recognized Las Vegas-area youths who will receive a $50 gift card and have qualified for the chance to receive a $1,000 regional scholarship for post-secondary education this month.

The students were chosen for making a positive impact on their community through volunteerism. They are:

n Kylie Burgett, 7, of Las Vegas.

n Donald Swanson, 15, of Henderson.

n Sopheari Thach, 9, of Las Vegas.

Stephanie Morales, a student in the fifth form (11th grade) at Kent School in Kent, Conn., was named to the honor roll for the spring 2012 semester.

Morales is the daughter of Victor Morales and Martha Cardenas of Las Vegas.

Kurtis Kaminski and Sonya Snyder, both of Las Vegas, have been named to the honor list for the spring 2012 semester at the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo.

Kaminski is a senior studying information science.

Snyder is a freshman studying engineering.

Anabel Castaneda has been named to the dean's list at Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Ind., for the spring 2012 semester.

She is the daughter of Jose Castaneda of Las Vegas and Martha Castaneda of Oak Park, Ill.
