Bailey Fullmer, daughter of Pat and Amber Fullmer of Las Vegas, qualified to compete in the Junior High School Rodeo National Finals in Des Moines, Iowa, June 22-28. She will compete in five events (barrel racing, poles, goat tying, breakaway, and team roping) at the National Finals.

Cadet Ashley Ann Justice, daughter of Laura and Derrick Justice of Las Vegas, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., on May 28. Justice graduated from the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy in 2009.

REFORMA, the National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking, recently announced that the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District’s Enterprise Library branch manager, Salvador Avila, is the recipient of the Dr. Arnulfo D. Trejo Librarian of the Year Award. The award recognizes early- to mid-career library professionals who have promoted and advocated services to the Spanish-speaking and Latino communities. Avila is a co-founder of the Nevada Chapter of REFORMA, has served on numerous committees for REFORMA and is a member of the American Library Association Council.

Brooke Solan of Faith Lutheran High School was named Best Actress and Isaac Arnett of Calvary Chapel Christian School was named Best Actor in the Nevada High School Musical Theater Awards. They are set to go to New York City to compete in the National High School Musical Theater Awards.

Air Force Airman Erika A. Austin graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Austin is the daughter of Ruthie A. James of Memphis, Tenn., and David B. Austin of Las Vegas and granddaughter of Johnnie Austin of Las Vegas. Austin is a 2011 graduate of Cimarron-Memorial High School.

G. Adam Serrano, 24, a 2008 graduate of Shadow Ridge High School, received his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California on May 16. Serrano is the son of Miguel and Dianna Montoya of North Las Vegas.

Daniella Nicole Moracco graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno on May 16. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Moracco of Henderson. Moracco received a Bachelor of Science degree in education, was on the Dean’s List and graduated with honors. She is a 2010 graduate of Coronado High School.

Chelsea Rose McMaken, 22, daughter of William and Joan McMaken of Las Vegas, graduated from Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah, with a major in graphic design. McMaken graduated in 2010 from Desert Oasis High School.

Navy Airman Alexander Hernandez graduated from basic military training at Naval Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Hernandez is the son of Daryl and Esperanza Gutierrez-Walls of Las Vegas and is a 2012 graduate of Silverado High School.

Nicolas Figueredo and Shannon Zahm made the spring 2014 Dean’s List at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash.

Megan Robbins of Las Vegas graduated from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo., on May 10.

Corin Galati of Las Vegas made the spring 2014 Dean’s List at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass.

Steven Sha, son of Shu Ya and Sheng Ming Sha of Henderson, graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., on May 17. Sha is a graduate of Las Vegas Academy.

Navy Seaman Shon T. Govan, daughter of Charles M Govan and Laurie C. Uehara of Las Vegas, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Govan is a 2012 graduate of Advanced Technologies Academy.
