Newsmakers, Sept. 4-10, 2014

Tim Lam, executive director of The International School of Hospitality, and Donnell Bayot, the school’s director of academic affairs, have been elected to the board of the National Association for Catering and Events. Lam was named president-elect, and Bayot was named second vice president.

Linda Marie Norcross of Las Vegas recently joined the law firm of Howard & Howard as a shareholder in the Intellectual Property Group. Linda Marie is a 1988 graduate of Clark High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science at UNLV in 1994 and her law degree from UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law in 2004.

Air Force Airman Scott R. Barton graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Barton is a 2013 graduate of Legacy High School.

Laura Ann Lomaglio of Las Vegas made the spring 2014 President’s List at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica and Rome, N.Y.

Air Force Airman Timothy D. Tinte graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Tinte is the son of Gregory Tinte of Las Vegas.

The following students graduated from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif., in May: Jennifer Charles-Funk, Lindsey Walton, Brandon Comer and Charlotte Kimmel, all of Las Vegas, and Sarah Forsythe of Henderson.

Angel Solis of Las Vegas graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., June 14. Solis is the son of Elpidio and Sara Solis of Las Vegas.

Carissa Oculto graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge, at Fort Knox, Ky. Oculto is the daughter of Farah Neal of Las Vegas.

Timothy McMoore-Tuamoheloa, a student at UNLV, is an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps cadet involved in Cadet Language and Cultural Immersion Training. After a weeklong training session at Fort Knox, Ky., the selected cadets are deployed to partner nations where they are immersed in local cultures and languages. The selected cadets spend three weeks involved in assisting with current Army missions that range from helping to build community projects to teaching English to local children. McMoore-Tuamoheloa is the son of Salamasina Tuamoheloa of Henderson and is a 2013 graduate of Coronado High School.

Air Force Airman Zackary Johnson graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Johnson is the son of Burns Johnson of Henderson and Benelisa Johnson of Las Vegas. He is a 2011 graduate of Green Valley High School.

Anthony Lombino graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge, at Fort Knox, Ky. Lombino is the son of Charles Lombino of Henderson and is a 2011 graduate of Coronado High School.

Jordan Perlstein graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge, at Fort Knox, Ky. Perlstein is the son of Daniel Perlstein of Las Vegas.

Jeremy Johnson graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge, at Fort Knox, Ky. Johnson is the son of Garland Johnson and Bridgette Washington of Las Vegas.

Keligh Daymon received an Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps scholarship. The scholarship entitlements include tuition and fees and an allowance of $600 per semester for educational assistance, textbooks, supplies and equipment. Daymon is the daughter of Roosevelt Daymon of Las Vegas and is a 2012 graduate of Shadow Ridge High School.

Jeffrey Gonzalez graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge, at Fort Knox, Ky. Gonzalez is a student at UNLV and is the son of Sandra Vigil of Las Vegas. He is a 2010 graduate of Del Sol High School.

Christopher Campagno received an Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps scholarship. The scholarship entitlements include tuition and fees and an allowance of $600 per semester for educational assistance, textbooks, supplies and equipment. Campagno is the grandson of Patricia Barane of Las Vegas and is a 2005 graduate of Liberty High School.

Air Force Airman Jarvis A. Dumangan graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Dumangan is the son of Joselito and Victoria Dumangan of Las Vegas and is a 2013 graduate of Sierra Vista High School.

Army Pfc. Pamela L. Sealy graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Sealy is the granddaughter of Judith M. Anderson and niece of Michelle Mcguire, both of Henderson. She is a 2003 graduate of Green Valley High School and earned an associate degree in 2013 from Everest College in Henderson.

Army Pvt. Carolynn A. Marlar graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Marlar is the daughter of James A. Marlar of Seaside, Calif., and Trisha L. Reynolds of North Las Vegas.

Army Pvt. Michael Stanko has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Stanko is the son of Hyang Stanko of Henderson.

Army Pvt. Matthew-Miles S. Lumagui has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Lumagui is the son of Michael and Michelle S. Lumagui of Las Vegas. He is a 2012 graduate of Southwest Career and Technical Academy.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Micah J. Hursh graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Hursh is the son of Karen and Lynn L. Hursh of North Las Vegas.

Michela Brooks of Las Vegas has been named to the spring 2014 President’s List at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. Brooks is the daughter of Kathleen and Michael Brooks of Las Vegas.

New Cadets accepted to the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad, Calif., include Drayson Little, son of Richard and Sharon Fishman; and Johnlord Sy, son of Anthony Sy and Wilma Costa. Both are from Las Vegas.
