First Lt. Michelle Ching-Rosales of North Las Vegas graduated from Commissioned Officer Training Sept. 19 in Montgomery, Ala. She is the wife of Air Force veteran Michael I. Rosales. Ching-Rosales is set to graduate from UNLV in December with a Ph.D. in public health.

Megan Stewart, a sophomore from Coronado High School, qualified for the Scottish Highland Dance Nationals held July 17-20 in Sugar Land, Texas. She was Nevada’s first delegate to represent the Western Region at the United States Inter-Regional Championships. In the pre-championship competition, Stewart placed fourth in the Sword and fifth in the Sean Truibhas dance. Her dance instructor is Kristen Brimhall of Henderson.

Margaret “Poco” Davis of North Las Vegas is serving a one-year term as president of the board of directors for Soroptimist, a global volunteer organization of women who work to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Davis is a drug and alcohol counselor for Bridge Counseling Associates in Las Vegas.

Beverly Ausmus Ramsey, Ph.D., has been named the executive director of the Desert Research Institute’s Earth and Ecosystem Sciences Division. Ramsey will lead a collection of scientists, students and support staff at DRI focused on applied research in the life and earth sciences.

The Henderson Chapter Order of DeMolay honored Buzz Ingram, Richard Hunker and Arthur W. Cozad III, all of Henderson, with the Chevalier Degree Award, which is the highest honor that an active and senior DeMolay member can receive. It is awarded by unanimous vote of the International Supreme Council, DeMolay International.

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Ebony C. Samples graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Samples is the daughter of Silas B. Samples of Los Angeles and Darlene C. Owens of Las Vegas.

U.S. Air National Guard Airman Svonte’ M. Donaby graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Donaby is the son of Theressa M. Donaby of Las Vegas.

Air Force Airman David A. Martin graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Martin is a 2013 graduate of Sierra Vista High School.

Jennifer Hanuschak of Las Vegas graduated from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, in August.

Army Pfc. Brandii Starks graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Starks is the daughter of Cynthia and Hari Starks of Las Vegas and is a 2013 graduate of Shadow Ridge High School.

Army Pvt. Jordan Cannon graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Cannon is the son of Michael and Robin Cannon of Las Vegas. He is a 2009 graduate of Cimarron-Memorial High School.

Kimberly M. Coombs received an Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps scholarship to attend Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, Calif. Coombs is the daughter of Douglas Coombs of Las Vegas and is a 2011 graduate of Palo Verde High School.
