TIVOLI ADDS NEW TENANTS

Tivoli Village, 302 S. Rampart Blvd., has added new tenants to its retail and lifestyle offerings.

Tapas — Celebrity chef Alex Stratta serves a variety of cultivated and contemporary ingredient-focused small plates driven by the flavors of the Mediterranean with prominent Spanish accents. Signature dishes include Valenciana paella with authentic bomba rice; Moroccan chicken with apricots; curried lamb kabobs; baked Monte Enebro Spanish cheese and Bacalao salt cod. SUBMIT A PHOTO TO BLM CONTEST

The Bureau of Land Management is accepting submissions for its annual photo contest through Sept. 7. Information on the rules and how to submit photos can be found at on.doi.gov/1qhhqp0.

Photos will be selected from the following categories:

People Exploring Nevada — Share photos of your favorite activities and adventures on BLM lands across Nevada — volunteering, working, camping, hiking, biking, boating, fishing, kayaking, skiing, climbing or riding.

Weird and Wild — Take a walk on the wild side with photos of wildlife, wilderness and wildflowers.

Employee — BLM employees can submit their photos for a special employee category.

“We were thrilled with the photos we received for our contest last year,” said Barb Keleher, outdoor recreation planner. “There are so many great places to explore in Nevada, and we look forward to people sharing their adventures and experiences with us.”

WOMEN’S GIVING CIRCLE AWARDING NEVADA CHILD SEEKERS WITH GRANT

The members of Impact Las Vegas, a nonprofit women’s giving circle in its second grant year, voted June 6 to award its $18,000 grant to Nevada Child Seekers.

The grant will be used to expand Nevada Child Seekers’ Be Brave youth empowerment program to combat teen bullying in Southern Nevada. Be Brave is a self-esteem-boosting initiative developed in conjunction with the Metropolitan Police Department, Symbolic Art Center and the Clark County School District. It was rolled out to five schools beginning in October. Impact Las Vegas will fund expansion of the program to 20 additional schools in the coming year, helping 20,000 more students make positive choices while seeking to combat the teen bullying crisis.

RAINBOW LIBRARY TO HOST FREE MEALS FOR YOUTHS

The Rainbow Library, 3150 N. Buffalo Drive, is one of the sites for the Southern Nevada Food Service Program. The program ensures that children have access to nutritious meals during their summer break. Three Square food bank provides free meals Monday through Friday through the summer to youths 18 or younger.

SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM TO PROVIDE MEALS DURING SCHOOL BREAK

​The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas has announced locations for the 2015 Summer Food Service Program, a federally funded program administered by Nevada’s Department of Agriculture to youths living in low-income areas. The site in the Summerlin area, which is open to any child with no registration required, is at Impact, 8991 W. Flamingo Road.

The academy is providing nutritious free meals to children 18 or younger Mondays through Fridays during the summer months.

WOMEN’S CLUB OF SUMMERLIN PARTNERS WITH MACY’S FOR SHOP FOR A CAUSE

Macy’s is partnering with the Women’s Club of Summerlin for the 10th annual national Shop For A Cause charity shopping event Aug. 29.

Customers can purchase shopping passes for $5 each from the Women’s Club of Summerlin for the event created to support local charities’ fundraising efforts. The club will keep all of the proceeds from the sale of the shopping passes, which entitle the holder to special discounts on regular, sale and clearance merchandise during the event.

Macy’s in Summerlin is at 1980 Festival Plaza Drive in Downtown Summerlin.

WORLD CUP CYCLOCROSS EVENT SET FOR SEPT. 16 AT DESERT BREEZE SOCCER COMPLEX

CLIF Bar CrossVegas has scheduled a World Cup cyclocross event for Sept. 16 at the Desert Breeze Soccer Complex, 8275 Spring Mountain Road. Racers from 15 countries are expected to participate.

The event requires competitors to travel on various terrains — pavement, grass, steep hills and barriers — and in some places, cyclists will dismount to navigate obstacles, then remount their bicycles to finish the race. Competitors comprise the world’s top-ranked men and women in the sport, including multiple national and UCI world champions. CrossVegas athletes compete in one of four races: UCI Elite men; UCI Elite women; Wheelers & Dealers, the race’s cycling industry event; and a USA Cycling race for amateur men and women. The event will be televised by Universal Sports Network.

This year’s UCI World Cup race series starts with CrossVegas, with the top competitors advancing to the next race in Montreal. Following Montreal, World Cup races will take place in the Netherlands, Belgium and France through the fall and winter.

The cost to participate is $55. Registration is set to open Aug. 4 at crossvegas.com.
