Decisions, Decisions

Now that you’ve whet your appetite on the first part of our 29th annual Best of Las Vegas poll, here’s a fresh batch of topics to consider.

This week we’re talking about the best in hotels and entertainment.

For those of you who can’t keep your mind off of food, we have more tasty categories in Best Hotels, such as Best Breakfast Special, Best Buffet, Best Brunch and Best Coffee Shop.

This is the week for gamblers to have their say with Best Bingo, Best Blackjack, Best Paying Slots, Best Sports Book and Best Poker Room, among others.

There are 40 categories in all listed under Best Hotels.

But for folks who love to be entertained, this ballot doubles your pleasure with entertainment options under Best Hotels — Best All-Around Performer, Best Magician, Best Singer, Best Lounge, Best Show — and a separate grouping under just plain entertainment.

Those exploring Best Entertainment will find such things as Best Amusement Ride, Best Concert, Best Family Attraction, Best Local Sports Event and Best Place to Dance. There are 19 choices to make altogether.

So sharpen your pencils to fill out the ballot here or head online at

You have until 5 p.m. Monday to make your decisions. Although there are several ballots, you can vote for Best Hotels and Best Entertainment only once.

The same rules apply: Don’t photocopy ballots and do write legibly.

The final ballot, featuring Best Shopping, Best Sports Spots, Best People and Best of the Worst will appear in the R-J on Sunday, Monday and Jan. 28, with a deadline of 5 p.m. Feb.1.

Each ballot will be available online throughout the appropriate voting period.

Of course, this is not a scientific poll, but we hope you’ll have some fun with it and maybe discover something new.

Another reason to fill out the second ballot is for another shot at our bevy of prizes. Here they are in case you forgot: two tickets to see the Best All-Around Performer; two tickets for the Best Show; dinner for two at the Best Gourmet Restaurant in a hotel; dinner for two in the Best Gourmet Restaurant not in a hotel; lunch for two at the Best Place for a Power Lunch; a gift certificate to the Best Mall; and a grand prize of a night on the town, including dinner, a show and an overnight stay at a local hotel.

Results of the Best of Las Vegas poll will appear in the Review-Journal and its Web site on March 28.
