Elvis really still is everywhere in Las Vegas -- performing in musical tributes such as "Legends in Concert," betrothing couples at the Elvis Wedding Chapel and, of course, heard singing in his own Cirque du Soleil show at CityCenter.
But there's one Elvis that some lucky Las Vegans have a different kind of memory of seeing -- the real Elvis.
Did you serve a cocktail to the 21-year-old future king during his first valley visit, at the New Frontier in 1956? (He would have needed one. According to reports, he completely underwhelmed the audience.)
Were you one of the hundreds of autograph seekers camped in front of the Sahara, where Elvis stayed (reportedly with co-star Ann-Margret) while filming "Viva Las Vegas" in 1963?
Or did you simply happen to see the King during one of his 837 sold-out concerts at the Las Vegas International (now Hilton) Hotel between 1969 and 1976?
If you stood face-to-face with the real deal, tell us your story in 200 words or less. Send your story to Meeting Elvis, Las Vegas Review-Journal, P.O. Box 70, Las Vegas, NV 89125. The best stories will be shared in a future Review-Journal story and online.
