Numerous activities and tie-ins are planned in observance of October as National Breast Cancer Awareness month, which is aimed at raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research and treatment.
Among the variety of activities and events scheduled are:
Wacoal Fit for the Cure, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday at Dillard’s in Meadows mall, 4300 Meadows Lane, and Friday at Dillard’s in the Galleria at Sunset mall, 1300 Sunset Road, Henderson. Wacoal will donate $2 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for every woman fitted at the event, and for every purchase of a Wacoal bra or shapewear item or b.tempt’d bra (FitfortheCure.com).
The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk is Saturday at JW Marriott, 221 N. Rampart Blvd. Registration starts at 7 a.m. with the walk at 8 a.m. (strideslasvegas.com).
Grapes &Hops Festival, to benefit Par for the Cure, 5-9 p.m. Saturday at Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd. Tickets are $40 or $70 for two people in advance. Tickets are $50 per person on event day. The event will feature fine wines, a selection of beers, food and live music (springspreserve.org).
The fifth annual Rose Regatta Dragon Boat Race and Festival, to support breast cancer services at St. Rose Dominican Hospitals, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at Lake Las Vegas. Dragon boat teams will compete in races, and the event will include a Flowers on the Water ceremony, a Painted Paddles Gallery, the Light the Way lantern tribute, entertainment and other activities (roseregatta.org).
Smiles for Survivors Foundation will have Blow Out Breast Cancer on Saturday at Square Colour Salon + Spa, 1225 S. Fort Apache Road. The nonprofit group raises awareness of cancer treatment’s impact on oral health and provides dental treatment for breast cancer patients and survivors. The event will feature blow outs with conditioning treatments, Champagne and small bites 2-6 p.m., and cocktails, food, a silent auction and entertainment 7-11 p.m. Tickets are $65 in advance for the party and blow out or $40 for the party only. Dooney &Bourke at the Grand Canal Shops at The Venetian, 3377 Las Vegas Blvd. South, will have an in-store event featuring pink cookies and 20 percent off some store merchandise 2-5 p.m. Saturday. Dooney &Bourke will donate $5 from the sale of each Pink Ribbon Tote to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
For the Hard Rock’s PINKTOBER month, Katie Cole will perform a free all-ages concert at 9 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Hard Rock Cafe at Hard Rock Hotel (702-733-8400). On Oct. 18, Ani DiFranco will perform at 8 p.m. at Hard Rock Live on the Strip. Tickets are $34.50-$38. The concert will feature a silent auction for an autographed guitar signed by DiFranco with proceeds going to the Komen Southern Nevada affiliate (702-733-7625).
The UNLV Pink Football Game vs. the University of Hawaii will be at 5 p.m. Oct. 12 at Sam Boyd Stadium, 7000 E. Russell Road. Tickets are $20-$50 , and a portion of the proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Breast cancer survivors will be honored at halftime and information booths will on site (unlvtickets.com; 702-739-3267).
Sam’s Club locations will offer free women’s health screenings to promote early detection and prevention of breast cancer and thyroid issues, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 12. The exams will include take-home breast self-exam kits (SamsClub.com/clublocator).
ULTA Beauty stores at 2186 N. Rainbow Blvd., 7265 Arroyo Crossing Parkway, 9857 S. Eastern Ave. and 543 N. Stephanie St., Henderson., will host Salon Cut-A-Thons to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 13. For a minimum donation of $10 , participants will receive a wash, cut and blow-dry style. Through October, ULTA will have its annual Donate with a Kiss campaign, with paper kisses decorating stores across the country. Each kiss decal represents a $1 donation to the foundation. Also available at ULTA stores, 10 percent of proceeds from sales of Juice Beauty’s Authentically Pink Makeup Kit will go to support the Breast Cancer Fund.
ONEHOPE Wine will offer a dinner and chardonnay wine pairing to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at Bistro 57 at Aliante Casino, 7300 N. Aliante Parkway, North Las Vegas. The three-course menu is $65 (702-692-7777).
Send Me On Vacation’s “Pink in the Park” benefit concert hosted by Jack Walker and Rhayne Thomas will feature performers, musicians, comedians and magicians 1-5 p.m. Oct. 19 at Fashion Village at Boca Park, 750 S. Rampart Blvd. The nonprofit organization sends breast cancer survivors on vacations. Free admission (sendmeonvacation.org).

The Southern Highlands Golf Club, 1 Robert Trent Jones Lane, will host the annual Pink Tee ladies only golf and social event, to benefit breast cancer organizations in Southern Nevada, Oct. 21. The UNLV double-header soccer Pink Day event Oct. 25 will feature the women’s game vs. Air Force at 4:30 p.m. and the men’s game vs. University of Missouri, Kansas City at 7 p.m. at Peter Johann Memorial Field, East Flamingo Road and Swenson Street. Attendees who wear pink will receive half-price on the regular price ticket of $8 or free ticket with military ID. Station Casinos properties will have its Project Pink campaign through October to support the Komen Southern Nevada affiliate. Activities will include pink-themed blackjack and poker tables; pink-themed menu items at Garduno’s, Amigo’s and Cabo locations; and pink-themed pastries at Grand Cafe locations and Cafe Fiesta. “21 for the Cure” will be Oct. 19-20 at all Station Casinos locations and Wild Wild West. Bingo session pink packs will be available for $4 every Sunday in October at participating properties. On Wednesdays, Revolver Saloon and Dance Hall at Santa Fe Station, 4949 N. Rancho Drive, will offer Pink Ladies Night at 8 p.m. with free cover until 10 p.m. Proceeds from the $5 cover after 10 p.m., and from the sales of a special T-shirt, will benefit the nonprofit (sclv.com).
Hungry Howie’s Pizza, 6365 Simmons St., will have its annual “Love, Hope &Pizza” campaign during October with all proceeds from T-shirt sales and rubber bracelets going to benefit National Breast Cancer Foundation, The pizza franchise will also make a donation to the foundation for every pizza sold (hungryhowies.com).
Spa Aquae at JW Marriott, 221 N. Rampart Blvd., will offer PINK spa treatments throughout October (manicures, pedicures, facials and massages) with 10 percent of treatment sales going to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (jwlasvegasresort.com).
Slice of Vegas and Hussong’s Cantina at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, 3930 Las Vegas Blvd. South, will offer a selection of themed food and drink specials during October, with 20 percent of the sales of the special menu items going to benefit Save the Ta-Tas Foundation. Pink Nails, 8414 Farm Road, will be painting pink ribbons on nails and doing glitter ribbon tattoos throughout October, with proceeds going to the Komen Southern Nevada affiliate (702-384-8889).
A portion of proceeds from the sales of PINKTOBER merchandise at Hard Rock properties, and online, will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and the Caron Keating Foundation throughout October (hardrock.com).
Las Vegas Premium Outlets South, 7400 Las Vegas Blvd. South, and Las Vegas Premium Outlets North, 875 S. Grand Central Parkway, will have the Premium Outlets Pink Event during October. For a $10 donation to the Komen Southern Nevada affiliate, customers will receive 25 percent off one item at select stores (premiumoutlets.com).
Guests who make a $5 donation after the Mac King’s “Comedy Magic Show” at Harrah’s Las Vegas will receive a pink “Mac King &Susan G. Komen — Magic For a Cure” wristband, as part of the ongoing fundraiser for the Komen Southern Nevada affiliate. Also, King will donate $5 on behalf of those who purchase two merchandise products after the show.
