Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center selects new CEO

Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center, a Valley Health System property, announced Monday that it has selected a new CEO.

Jeremy Bradshaw, formerly chief operating officer of the 293-bed acute care facility, officially took the helm of the hospital Sunday, according to a Valley Health System statement.

Bradshaw, who began at the hospital as COO in May 2014, will now oversee “all aspects of the hospital with a particular emphasis on strategic planning, business development, physician relations and value-based purchasing expectations, along with finance, human resources and daily operations,” the release said.

He previously served as COO of McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas, and as vice president of operations and cardiovascular services at The Medical Center of Aurora in Aurora, Colo.

Bradshaw said his top priority at Desert Springs is patient care, and he also hopes to emphasize the important of the emergency department, as it’s often the first or only interaction people have with the hospital.

He will take over for former CEO Sam Kaufman, who spent more than 10 years in the role, leaving the COO position vacant for now, according to the hospital’s website.

Kaufman was selected as CEO of Henderson Hospital in October and will now shift his full focus to that facility, Valley Health System spokeswoman Gretchen Papez said.

Henderson Hospital is expected to open in the fourth quarter of this year and will anchor Union Village, a health, recreational and residential complex in Henderson near Gibson Road and Galleria Drive.

The under-construction hospital will offer emergency services, general surgery, cardiology, women’s and children’s services, and more, according to its website.

Kaufman previously served as Desert Springs’ chief operating officer and has worked since 1992 in Las Vegas with Universal Health Services, a subsidiary of which is the owner and operator of the Valley Health System.
