KLIP IT FOR KIDZ FUNDRAISER PLANNED FOR MAY 2

The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation and the Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada are set to present the seventh annual Klip It for Kidz fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 2 in the center park area at Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Local businesses, children and individuals are encouraged to raise money for critically ill children in Southern Nevada and for local schools and sports groups. Professional stylists are set to shave participants’ heads for summer or to cut hair to make wigs for children. The community may participate by raising pledges, shaving or cutting hair. Participants must be willing to cut a minimum of 8 inches to donate.

The event is open to the public and features entertainment, family fun and exhibitions by Metro units and fire engines from the Clark County Fire Department.

Klip It For Kidz gives sports groups and schoolchildren an opportunity to raise money for their school or sports team. In addition, companies, family, friends and individuals are encouraged to collect pledges to benefit critically ill children.

BLIND CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION PLANNING LADYBUG BALL

The Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation is planning to host the sixth annual Ladybug Ball at 6 p.m. May 2 at Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd. This year, the foundation is set to honor entertainers Siegfried & Roy and Karen and Morgan Cashman of Cashman Photography.

Guests can enjoy entertainment, dancing and a performance from Frankie Moreno. A live silent auction, a hosted cocktail reception and a gourmet multicourse meal prepared by culinary master chefs are planned. The ball benefits the educational, social and adaptive recreational programs and services offered to children with visual impairments in the Las Vegas valley.

PAINT THE TOWN FUNDRAISING GALA PLANNED FOR AIDS FOR AIDS OF NEVADA

The seventh annual Paint the Town fine art fundraising gala to benefit Aid for AIDS of Nevada is planned from 8 to 11 p.m. May 8 at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The event is set to feature curated works of art from international artists for guests to bid on throughout the night.

ST JUDE OPENS LAS VEGAS FIELD OFFICE

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has opened its first Las Vegas field office ​at 1635 Village Center Circle, Suite 270. St. Jude survival rates have risen for the most aggressive of childhood cancers. The new office will lead fundraising efforts for Nevada and Utah. An open house is planned later in the year. FREE WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY SEMINARS PLANNED

Free weight loss surgery informational seminars are planned at 10 a.m. May 2 and 30 and 6:30 p.m. May 12 and 21 at the Surgical Weight Control Center, 3802 Meadows Lane. A new Stroller Strides Fit4Mom class is planned from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays on the campus of Summerlin Hospital Medical Center at 653 N. Town Center Drive.

Stroller Strides is a total fitness program that moms do with their babies. Activities include power walking/jogging and intervals of strength and body toning exercise using exercise tubing, a stroller and the environment. The class is taught by certified fitness instructors with specialty training in the pre- and postnatal woman. Instructors weave songs and activities into the routine designed to engage and entertain the babies.
