VOLUNTEERS

Positions available for helpers

     Adopt-a-trail workers. To hike trails at Mount Charleston, keep them free of debris, rocks and brush; inform public of trail conditions.
      Book menders. To help repair library books from all branch libraries.
      Campground host. To give out information, check in campers and perform light maintenance at Oak Creek primitive campground.
      Child-care attendants. To watch children while clients are in meetings.
      Crafts assistants. To help residents with a variety of weekly craft projects.
      Disaster action team members. To assist disaster victims with emergency needs and provide emotional support.
      Employment specialists. To help disabled people find jobs.
      Escorts for short excursions. To accompany residents on shopping trips, luncheon outings or sightseeing trips.
      Fund-raisers. To assist with fund-raising efforts for a nonprofit agency that rescues and rehabilitates abused and neglected exotic animals.
      Group facilitators. To help lead support groups for family members and significant others who have been affected by a suicide.
      Home visitors. To assist patients and families as needed, providing companionship, support and help with errands.
      Legal advisers. To help organization with legal matters.
      Make-a-Wish volunteers. To help assess children, including conducting an interview with a board member or another volunteer; to help fulfill wishes; to perform clerical duties and other tasks.
      Nurses. To perform intake assessment duties such as blood pressure, height and weight.
      Organists. To perform for seniors and special-needs adults attending day activity program.
      Peer counselors. To discuss issues and concerns of disabled people.
      Receptionists. To answer phones and greet people at a front desk.How to help

Necessary training is provided for most listed volunteer positions. Many additional positions which are not listed are also available.
