`E.T.' launches movie series It's the Saturday night drive-in -- without the drive. That's the theme of a new Moonlight Movies series starting Saturday night at Hills Park, 9002 Hillpointe Road. Instead of piling into the family car to watch a movie under the stars, moviegoers can stretch out on a blanket to view Steven Spielberg's 1982 classic "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial." Gates open at 7 p.m., with clowns, face painters and furry friends from the Lied Discovery Children's Museum on hand to keep the kids busy before the movie starts at 8 p.m. The movie is free, but tickets are required and may be obtained at the Summerlin Information Center, 1500 N. Town Center Drive; the Relax the Back Store, 2051 N. Rainbow Blvd.; and radio station KMZQ-FM 100.5, 6655 W. Sahara Ave., Suite C-216. "Field of Dreams," scheduled for Aug. 30, will be the next attraction. Frontier music spotlighted In celebration of National Recreation and Parks month, the Henderson Civic Symphony will perform at 8 p.m.today in the Civic Center Plaza amphitheater, adjacent to Henderson City Hall, 200 Water Street.
Admission is free. The program will feature an American frontier theme and is titled, "Westward Ho! A Musical Celebration of the American Spirit." For more information, call 565-2367 or the TDD at 565-2057. `Music Man' continues march There's trouble at Spring Mountain Ranch as performances of "The Music Man" continue through July 26. Show times are 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, 18 miles west of Las Vegas off Charleston Boulevard. Tickets are $4 general admission, $3 for senior citizens, the disabled, and children ages 6 to 18 for Wednesday and Thursday performances, and $7 and $4 respectively for Friday and Saturday performances. Gun show has sharp edges The sixth annual Las Vegas Gun & Knife Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cashman Field Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Guns, knives and accessories will be available. Tickets are $7 general admission.
