Shortstop Kim Rondina of the UNLV softball team broke a finger on her right hand Saturday and will be out six weeks.

Rondina was injured during the Rebels' doubleheader loss to Utah in Salt Lake City.
Ali Andrus-Sagas threw a one-hitter in the Utes' 4-0 Western Athletic Conference victory in the first game. Andrus-Sagas and Monica Jiminez combined on a four-hitter in a 4-1 victory in the second game.
-- GOLF -- At Cary, N.C., top-ranked UNLV recovered from a poor first round to move into second in the Ping Invitational at the MacGregor Downs Course.
The Rebels, who shot a 16-over-par 304 Friday, posted Saturday's best score with a 6-under 282. UNLV remains 11 strokes behind Clemson in the 12-team field.
UNLV's Gilberto Morales is tied for 10th with a 1-over 145. Ted Oh, Bill Lunde and Jeremy Anderson are at 3-over 147. Lunde had Saturday's best round at 68.
      The tournament will conclude today.
-- MEN'S TENNIS -- At Provo, Utah, the Rebels won four of six singles matches and defeated Brigham Young, 5-2.
UNLV, 17-4 overall and 5-0 in the WAC, won its seventh straight dual match.
Asaf Tishler, Julius Pohjola, Tim Blenkiron and Yoav Loewenstein won their singles matches. Tishler and Loewenstein combined for a doubles victory.
The Rebels will finish the regular season today at Utah.
-- WOMEN'S TENNIS -- At Los Angeles, No. 1 singles player Marianne Vallin was the only Rebel to win in a 5-1 loss to No. 3 UCLA.
Vallin, ranked 10th, beat No. 9 Kati Kocsis, 6-2, 6-2.
The Lady Rebels dropped to 14-4, and the Bruins improved to 14-4.
UNLV will face No. 33 Southern California on Monday.
-- BASEBALL -- At Albuquerque, N.M., UNLV trailed New Mexico 9-8 in the top of the eighth when the game was suspended because of cold weather.
Two inches of snow fell in the area, which forced the postponement of Friday's game and delayed the start of Saturday's contest by 2 1/2 hours.
