An informational meeting at UNLV about the university's gerontology program is planned for Friday.
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas offers a certificate program for gerontology, the study of the process of aging and of the challenges facing America's aging population.
The program is a flexible one that offers courses in 14 departments across the campus ranging from psychology to health-care management to theater.
The meeting has been scheduled from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Room 109 of UNLV's Dungan Humanities Building. Faculty members will be available to answer questions.
Ann McDonough, the program's director, said the program teaches graduates about the needs and desires of older people. That knowledge may be applied in many career fields.
The informational meeting is free, but parking permits are required on campus. Free parking is available only to those who make reservations.
For a reservation or additional information, call the gerontology office at 895-1079.
