Rumple claims Senior Scratch Bowlers Tournament title

      Larry Rumple took the $300 first-place prize in the Senior Scratch Bowlers Tour Tournament with a 1,155 at the Gold Coast on Sunday.
      Norm Brown was second at 1,153 and won $150. John Cocchi placed third at 1,136 for $120, and Gerald Baird was fourth at 1,135 for $100.
      The rest of the top 10: (5) Dennis Laux, 1,1266, $90; (6) Bud Horn, 1,111, $70; (7) Robert Klein, 1,109, $60; (8) John Greco, 1,095, $50; (9) Dick Baker, 1,082, $45; (10) Darrell Howe, 1,068, $40.
      Rumple teamed with Cocchi to win $120 in the "Lucky Pick" doubles with 2,291. Cocchi and Greco were second in the doubles with 2,231 for $80, and Hal Wilber and Brown were third at 2,213 for $60.
      Side pots worth $41 were won by Cocci (257), Rumple (267), Vaughn Doody (239), Baird (279) and Anthony Marine (247).
      -- WEST COAST SENIORS -- Bob Barnowsky finished fourth in the Open Division of the West Coast Senior Tour event Sunday in Irvine, Calif., to win $535.
      Doody was third in the Super Senior Division to win $600.
      -- TEAM 300s-- Carl Katalenic and Ron Dabe of the Sun City Seniors bowled perfect games the same night in the Sam Boyd Classic Trio at Sam's Town.
      Katalenic, 71, rolled a 300 in the first game, and Dabe, 64, had his 300 in the second game.
      It was Katalenic's first perfect game and Dabe's third.
      -- MARATHON -- Ken Wolcott captured the eight-game marathon at the Showboat with a 2,020 to win the $370 first-place prize.
