The story of race car driver Chris Trickle's shooting Feb. 9, leaving him in a coma, will be broadcast on Channel 5 at 9 p.m. Saturday on the Fox television series, "America's Most Wanted: America Fights Back."
Trickle, named Most Popular Driver of the Year in 1996, was shot in the head while driving east on Blue Diamond Road. No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
Trickle was found by an unidentified man who flagged down a passing bus. Trauma surgeon Sandra Clancey, a passenger on the bus, attended Trickle until help arrived and he was transported to a hospital.
Initially thought to be a car accident, doctors at University Medical Center later found Trickle had been shot.
Police are still looking for the "good Samaritan" who stopped the bus. A sketch of the man will be made public on Saturday.
