By Toni Marchese Special to the Review-Journal
In response to the April 1 commentary by Marilyn Romanelli concerning our Family Court judges: It's obvious Ms. Romanelli has no idea what's going on with these judges, with the families and, especially, with the children. These so-called judges are destroying them. In defense of the Family Court, Ms. Romanelli writes: "The Review-Journal widely publicized a few horror stories, supplied by totally flawed parents." But how many horror stories does it take? One is too many. However, there are hundreds and hundreds. The Review-Journal covered some of the stories of horror and injustice. You can bank on the fact it has heard many more. The newspaper did a wonderful job. It opened up doors for all the victims, especially the children. These reporters should be commended, not slapped in the face, as Ms. Romanelli tried to do. Ms. Romanelli writes of "totally flawed parents." Well, if fighting for the best interests of our children and our rights is what Ms. Romanelli perceives to be flawed, then it's no wonder, as she states, she "has often been on the other end of a judge's decision." Ms. Romanelli writes that, "The Review-Journal prints that judges do not read the court papers or are not informed as to the issues. This is simply not true." Then she states, "Moreover, the law clerks additionally summarize the issue." But the judges often don't read the court papers, consider documentation or get informed about the issues. This can be proven by all court videos and documentation in the possession of the "flawed parents" and the honest attorneys working hard on our behalf.
Ms. Romanelli writes: "It is traditional that the primary caretaking will continue with the mother unless she is found wholly unfit." And she comments on the errant fathers who counterclaim for primary custody and so forth, in order to avoid child support. This is possibly the only thing in her commentary that makes any sense. Evidently, Family Court Judge Stephen Jones found me wholly unfit as a mother when he uprooted my son from his home. After being in the Family Courts for more than five years, fighting for my son's safe return home, nothing surprises me about these so-called judges. However, there are a lot of really good daddies and mommies out there who don't play these games at the children's expense. She states: "Judge Jones and Redmon always give a decision that is indeed based on the best interest of all concerned, especially the kids." I don't know much about Judge Redmon's track record yet, but my experience with Judge Jones has been otherwise. It's obvious Ms. Romanelli has chosen to ignore the damage these Family Court judges have caused so many families, especially the children. Toni Marchese writes from Las Vegas.
