Buck's single propels Green Valley softball victory

Crissy Buck singled home Nicole Olson in the sixth inning to lead Green Valley to a 6-5 softball victory over host Chaparral and keep the Gators' Sunrise Division-leading record unblemished.
      Green Valley improved to 16-6 overall and 7-0 in the Sunrise.
      Buck was 3-for-4, including a fourth-inning two-run home run.
      Chaparral's Brandee Neel went 3-for-3 and homered.
      At Bonanza, Kacee Robertson singled home Jennifer Ivey in the bottom of the seventh as the Bengals beat Bishop Gorman, 5-4.
      Bonanza's Chrystal Stevens and Melissa Simerlink both were 3-for-4.
      At Las Vegas, Marie Shea singled home Nikki Mostoff in the sixth inning of Eldorado's 2-0 shutout of the Wildcats.
      Sundevils ace Amanda Berg earned the victory in relief.
      At Cimarron-Memorial, Jennifer Tassani was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs to lead the Spartans to a 13-6 victory over Clark.
      At Durango, Tiffany Finateri was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and four RBIs to lead Silverado to a 11-1 victory over the Trailblazers.
      At Basic, Jen Redding's two-run double highlighted a five-run fifth inning as the Wolves defeated Rancho, 11-0.
      Candice Rizzi tossed a two-hitter, striking out two and walking two, to earn the victory.
      At Cheyenne, Tiffany Jones was 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and four RBIs as the Desert Shields scored 19 runs in the first two innings of a 25-2 victory over Western.
      -- GOLF --Basic senior Gerry Cram shot a match-low 36 Thursday at Black Mountain, but Sunrise Division-leading Green Valley pulled out a 200-209 victory.
      Gators senior Avi Khitri led the way with a 1-over-par 37. Green Valley improved to 10-0 overall and 8-0 in the Sunrise. The Wolves, who are in second in the Sunrise, fell to 8-3 and 7-2.
      At Wildhorse, Sunset Division co-leader Durango held off Silverado 207-209 behind Tyler Nielsen's 40.
      At Sunrise, Mark Kohult's medalist round of 37 helped the Eldorado edge Chaparral, 235-236.
      At Las Vegas Golf Club, Gene Boothe's 37 was Western's only sub-40 score in its 204-223 victory over Clark.
      At Sunrise Vista, Valley downed Rancho, 226-291.
      Valley's Joe Shifflett and Tyler Kurtz were co-medalists with 43s.
      At Highland Falls, Tyler Mays shot a 39 as Bishop Gorman defeated Cimarron-Memorial, 214-219.
      Cimarron senior Ricky Thompson was medalist with a 38.
      At Angel Park, Bonanza's Billy Harvey fired a match-low 37 as the Bengals downed Cheyenne, 203-240.
      -- VOLLEYBALL -- Bonanza's Jaric Leavitt had 53 assists in the Bengals' 15-12, 15-12, 15-11 victory at Cimarron-Memorial Thursday night.
      At Western, Brock Mitchell had 10 kills to lead the Warriors to a 16-14, 7-15, 15-12, 15-11 victory over Silverado.
      At Chaparral, Kevin Hardy had nine kills in the Cowboys' 15-4, 15-9, 15-4 victory over Basic.
      At Rancho, Twin Khevisay had 25 assists to lead the Rams to a 15-7, 15-5, 15-8 victory over Las Vegas.
      At Cheyenne, Justin Graham had 42 assists for the Desert Shields as they defeated Durango, 15-12, 15-2, 15-10.
      At Valley, Tony Jensen and Dominic Valdez both had 15 kills for the Vikings as they defeated Vo-Tech, 12-15, 15-11, 15-9, 8-15, 15-10.
      At Clark, Bishop Gorman defeated Clark, 15-4, 15-9, 12-15, 15-13.
      At Green Valley, the Gators defeated Eldorado, 15-4, 15-1, 15-13.
