     Rebels men's tennis
     team edges BYU
     
     
FORT WORTH, Texas -- The 25th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team needed a three-set victory from its fourth player to defeat No. 52 Brigham Young 4-3 and move into today's semifinals at the 1997 Western Athletic Conference Men's Championships.
      With the match tied at 3, UNLV's Tim Blenkiron defeated Damien Ward 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 in No. 4 singles.
      The top-seeded Rebels (18-5, 6-1 WAC) face fifth-seeded Tulsa today. Fresno State and Texas Christian meet in the other semifinal.

TULSA, Okla. -- The UNLV women's tennis team won four of six singles matches in its 5-2 decision over Texas Christian in the second round of the WAC Championships at the Tulsa Southern Tennis Club.
      The top-seeded Rebels (17-5) had victories from Marianne Vallin (No. 1 singles), Natalie Frawley (No. 2), Veronica Goude (No. 4) and Marie Linusson (No. 6).
      UNLV faces San Diego State today in the semifinals. Brigham Young takes on New Mexico in the other semifinal.
     
     Three Rebel golfers
     honored by WAC
     
     
The UNLV golf team, ranked first by all three major golf polls, had three players named to the All-WAC team.
      Junior Bill Lunde, who led the Rebels with six top-10 finishes, was named to the first team.
      UNLV senior Gilberto Morales -- who tied for fourth place at this week's WAC Championships -- and sophomore Ted Oh made the second team.
     
     Inner-City Games
     continue Saturday
     
     
The Greater Las Vegas Inner-City Games continue Saturday with a martial arts clinic and its final soccer clinics.
      The martial arts clinic is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon at Clark High School. More than 400 children are expected to participate.
      The soccer clinics will be held at Roy Martin and Cashman middle schools from 9 a.m. to noon.
      The soccer tournament will begin May 3 and conclude May 10 at Silver Bowl Park. Thirty-two teams of 12 players each will participate in the six-on-six game format.
