Low-rider car show set downtown

Site Map

The first summer jam for low-rider automobile enthusiasts in Las Vegas is set for 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. July 27 in the parking areas surrounding The Arts Factory, 101 E. Charleston Blvd.
More than 200 vehicles, ranging from 1949 to 1997 makes and models, will be on display to the public at no charge. Sponsored by Tattoos-R-Us, a tattoo and body-piercing salon, the Fatboys Low Rider Car Show will award more than $5,000 in cash prizes for the highest "car hop" in a variety of categories and for the best "car dance."
Low-rider automobiles are equipped with hydraulic pumps that enable the car to bounce, hence the term "hop," and even stand on a bumper.
Live music and a bikini contest round out the day's events. For details, call 732-9503.
