Candidates announce race plans

Prior to the municipal elections this spring, the Review-Journal will publish a weekly list of people who have announced their candidacies for various political races in the Las Vegas Valley. The following are those who have filed as of Thursday:
     Las Vegas City Council
      Sue Brna has announced she is running for Las Vegas City Council's Ward 2 seat. Brna, 39, established the Charleston Heights Neighborhood Preservation group in 1995, which represents 10,000 households. She is involved in numerous cultural organizations in Las Vegas, including the Las Vegas Arts Museum.
     Las Vegas Municipal Judge
      Las Vegas Municipal Judge Nancy Saitta has announced she is running for election to Department 3. Saitta, 45, was appointed to Municipal Court in October 1996. She was a senior deputy attorney general for the state before her appointment. Saitta also was a criminal lawyer in Detroit and a law professor at Wayne State University.
      Las Vegas Municipal Court Chief Judge Seymore Brown has announced he will run for re-election. Brown, 67, has been a Municipal Court judge for 24 years. He also served as chairman of the Big Brother, Big Sister program for two years, and is a board adviser for Operation Bridge, a drug counseling program for youths.
      Las Vegas Municipal Judge Gregory Barlow has announced he is running for re-election to Department 5. Barlow, 49, has served as a deputy attorney general for the state and as a deputy public defender for Clark County. He is a member of the Nevada Judges Association, the Nevada State Bar Association and the Clark County Bar Association.
