     NARFE meeting
     
      The National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 423, will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St. Guest speaker will be Dan Splan of the Veterans Administration. All current and retired federal employees are invited (228-9929).
     
     Support groups
     
      The Weight Loss Support Group meets at 2 p.m. Fridays at 3753 Howard Hughes Parkway, Suite 141. Admission is free. Call 737-8820 to register.
      Workaholics Anonymous offers a 12-step program to help people recover from workaholism. The group meets at 11:30 a.m. Saturdays at 4016 S. Rainbow Blvd. (395-4223).
      Nicotine Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who follow a 12-step program to quit smoking. Call 223-7139 for information.
      Narcotics Anonymous holds regular meetings in Las Vegas. There are no dues or fees. Call 369-3362 for more information.
     
     Ski club
     
      The Las Vegas Ski Club will hold a TGIF party at 6 p.m. Friday at Zapata's, 3550 S. Decatur Blvd. The group will celebrate St. Patrick's Day at 5 p.m. Monday at Jimmy Murphy's Pub, 6138 W. Charleston Blvd. Everyone is welcome to attend both events (458-0469).
     
     Dance club
     
      The Swing Dance Club of Las Vegas meets for dancing at 8 p.m. Fridays at Pepper's Lounge, 2929 E. Desert Inn Road. Lessons will begin at 6:30 p.m. (733-6393).
     
     Yard sale
     
      The Nevada Symphony Orchestra Guild will hold its annual Symphony of Treasures yard sale from 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at 2701 Alta Drive. The event will feature new and used items, including furniture.
     
     St. Patrick's Day dinner
     
      St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St., will host a St. Patrick's Day dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature corned beef, green beer and Irish Music. Everyone is welcome. Cost is $5 per person (642-1154).
     
     League of Women Voters
     
      The League of Women Voters will hold a breakfast meeting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Marie Callender's, 4875 W. Flamingo Road. The topic will be "Criminal Justice." Guest speakers will be police academy Lt. Stavros Anthony, John Marr of Choices Unlimited and William Duffy from the Division of Parole and Probation. Call 256-3662 for reservations.
     
     Children's programming
     
      The city of North Las Vegas Administrative and Community Services Department will present new programs for children to be held each Saturday through May at 1638 N. Bruce St. "Kids That Care" runs from 10 a.m. to noon and "Young Inventors Club" from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The public is invited. Admission is free.
     
     Beta Sigma Phi
     
      The Laureate Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sampler Shoppes Antique and Design Mall, 6115 W. Tropicana Ave. (363-2093).
      Las Vegas Beta Sigma Phi City Council will hold an open house and citywide rush from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. (363-2093).
     
     Tortoise Group
     
      The Tortoise Group will present a program on treating sick and injured tortoises. The event will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Nevada State Museum in Lorenzi Park, 3333 W. Washington Ave. The public is invited (739-8043).
     
     SAG workshop
     
      The Screen Actors Guild will sponsor a workshop on audition techniques from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Black Box Theatre at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway. Call 737-8818 for more information.
     
     NOW meeting
     
      The National Organization for Women will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Guest speaker will be Melanie Martin of Planned Parenthood of Southern Nevada (387-7552).
     
     Decorated eggs
     
      Ukrainian and decorated art eggs will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway (367-3688).
     
     Car club
     
      On Sunday, the British Auto Club of Las Vegas will hold its annual St. Patrick's Day car show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a luncheon from 1 to 2 p.m. at Cadillac Grille, 2801 N. Tenaya Way. The event is open to those interested in British cars (363-3881).
     
      The Sin City Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America will meet for lunch at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Sonic Drive-in, 6455 W. Sahara Ave. The group will meet at 7 p.m. March 20 at West Sahara Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave. All interested individuals are welcome (254-0888).
     
     Auditions
     
      Theater in the Valley will hold auditions for the comedy "The Supporting Cast" from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Lorna J. Kesterson Recreation Center, located at Boulder Highway and Basic Street in Henderson. Roles are available for four women and one man age 30-50. Call 458-7529 for further information.
     
     LST Association
     
      The LST Association and the Amphibious Forces of Nevada will meet at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Marine Corps League, 4360 W. Spring Mountain Road (655-2330).
     
     City of Hope
     
      The City of Hope, Power of Life Chapter, will hold a general meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday at Best Western Mardi Gras Inn, 3500 Paradise Road. The Valley of Force Chorus will entertain. Call 696-0920 for more information.
     
     Girl Scout reunion
     
      The Girl Scout 85th Anniversary Reunion will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Sprint, 330 S. Valley View Blvd. All current and former Girl Scouts are invited (385-3677).

      The Far-out Explorers Society, for seasoned travelers who wish to share experiences of foreign travel, meets at 6:30 p.m. Sundays. Call 733-0536 for more information.
     
     Acting workshops

     Girls auxiliary
     
      The North Las Vegas Memorial Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10047 is forming an auxiliary for girls who are 6-16 years of age with a parent, grandparent, foster parent, brother or sister who is a VFW member. Call 220-4338 for more information.
     
     CCNGS seminar
     
      The Clark County Nevada Genealogical Society will hold its annual spring seminar on March 22. The featured speaker will be James L. Hansen, reference librarian and genealogical specialist at the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. Call 225-5838 for more information.
