In the new kid-friendly lab at Anderson Dairy at 801 Searles Ave. today, the governor and his wife will sing a jingle to promote a new effort to give busy parents ways to teach their children outside school.
The program, dubbed "Take the Time to TEACH," is a brainchild of Sandy Miller, Nevada's first lady, who along with private sponsors compiled a booklet of tips for furthering education at home.
Each letter in TEACH represents a tenet of the program: talk to children, encourage them, answer their questions, care about them and help them.
The jingle sung by Gov. Bob Miller, Sandy Miller and a group of Las Vegas students likely will incorporate those themes.
The booklets will be available for free at 7-Eleven stores, Station Casinos Theaters, Columbia Sunrise Children's Hospital, Anderson Dairy and Prime Cable starting Friday. Those businesses also are sponsors of the project.
