Review-Journal The Thunder shot early and often against San Antonio goaltender David Littman, but scoring was another story. Littman stopped 36 shots as the Dragons defeated the Thunder 4-1 Wednesday night before 3,701 fans at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio. Left winger Ken Quinney was the only Las Vegas player to solve Littman. Quinney scored 2:28 into the third period to cut the Dragons' lead to 2-1. Patrice Lefebvre and Steve Bancroft assisted on the goal. But San Antonio scored less than a minute later when Dave MacIntyre's shot got by Thunder goalie Andre Racicot at 3:17. Defenseman Brian Glynn and right winger Todd Rierdon scored first-period goals for San Antonio (37-24-6). Left winger Lonnie Loach also scored for the Dragons.
Las Vegas (33-27-6) outshot San Antonio 14-3 in the first period and 37-18 for the game. Littman improved to 15-13-5. With the loss and Milwaukee's 4-3 shootout victory over Cincinnati, the Thunder fell three points behind the Admirals in the Western Conference playoff race, although Milwaukee has played three more games than Las Vegas. The Thunder played without two of its top defensemen. Captain Kevin Dahl complained of a sore neck during warmups and was a last-minute scratch. Jeff Serowik sat out with a minor groin pull. Both expect to play Friday when the Thunder returns to the Thomas & Mack Center to face the Long Beach Ice Dogs.
