Casino winnings bounce back

CARSON CITY -- Despite floods in Reno and good luck by bettors, Nevada casinos in January rebounded from a recent slump and posted their biggest single-month increase since last July.
      The Gaming Control Board reported Tuesday that casinos won $646.7 million from players in January, up 4.5 percent from their $619.1 million in winnings in January 1996.

Online casino site projects big revenue

World Wide Web Casinos Inc. is forecasting revenue of $100 million in its first year of operating its Internet casino.
      World Wide Web Casinos President Peter Demos said the company opens its Internet casino in May and expects to attract 200 players an hour with jackpots of as much as $10 million, rising to a potential $200 million.
