Boyd Gaming Corp. recently announced several management appointments. The gaming company has promoted Stephen Thompson to the newly created position of senior vice president of downtown operations from executive vice president and general manager of the Main Street Station, and David Krasn to corporate director of tax planning and compliance from corporate tax manager. Also, Brian Parrish has joined the company as vice president of marketing for downtown operations. He worked for Windsor Casino Limited in Ontario, Quebec. ------ Carter and Burgess Inc. has elected McHenry Wallace Jr. as an associate principal. He is manager of the company's Las Vegas facilities division. ------ Mary Turner has joined Comstock Bank as branch manager of its Las Vegas mortgage lending office. Turner was vice president and area sales manager for Citibank Mortgage Lending. ------ Scott Meier, president and owner of Custom Cooling & Heating Inc., has been entered into the National Directory of Who's Who in Business Professionals of America for 1997. ------ Dunn Reber Glenn Marz Advertising & Public Relations has promoted Roberta Elliott to media director from media department manager. ------ Euphoria Day Spa has named Maria Eugenia Monteiro spa director and Laura Hintlian director of massage therapy. Monteiro was a free-lance esthetician and spa therapist in Cambridge, Mass. Hintlian has been practicing and teaching massage therapy and yoga for 10 years. ------ HELP of Southern Nevada has named Patricia A. Morelli manager of the displaced homemaker/displaced worker program; Bonnie Kaliher fiscal coordinator of the family resource centers program; and Susan Summers development director. Morelli comes from the Florida governor's office; Kaliher worked for United Way; and Summers was executive director of REACH OUT. ------ Hospitality Network has hired Rick Harshman as director of operations. He was director of information systems for Casino Data Systems. ------ The Las Vegas chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators has presented Nancy Harkess with the 1996 Communicator of the Year Award. Harkess is public affairs officer with the U.S. Department of Energy's Las Vegas Operations Office.
------ Lynam Communication Group has promoted Ray McKay to director of operations from political director. ------ Nevada Power Co. has named Sally Galati vice president of distribution. She was the company's division director of distribution operations and construction. ------ Professional Staff Management, which recently acquired National Contract Staffing, has appointed Doug Cluff regional sales manager for Las Vegas and Reno. He was an account executive with PSM's Salt Lake City office. ------ Three Public Relations Society of America members of the Desert Sands chapter recently earned accreditation from the society for competence in the practice of public relations. They are Lisa Story, chapter president, and communications manager at Bechtel Nevada; Mike Ballard, the chapter's vice president of finance, and president of Ballard Communications; and Jeannine Klein, chapter vice president of membership, and public information coordinator for the Las Vegas Valley Water District. ------ Deirdre Felgar, owner and president of Realty America, is the new president-elect of the commercial division of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors. ------ Rod A. Davis, president and chief executive officer of St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, has advanced to fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. ------ Stratosphere has appointed Paul James Spence director of convention sales. He was national sales director at the Desert Inn. The resort has also named Jan Faust assistant to the director of convention sales. Faust was senior sales/account manager at the Sheraton Desert Inn. ------ Trinity Mortgage Co. has named Ron Hudson manager of its Las Vegas office. He has more than 10 years experience in the real estate industry. ------ Terra West Property Management has hired Vicky Madden to work in its homeowners association management team. Madden worked in homeowners association management in Southern California.
