     Toastmasters
     
      The Windjammers Toastmasters meet at 7:30 a.m. Wednesdays at Denny's Restaurant, 3081 S. Maryland Parkway (871-7780).
      The Chatterboxes Toastmasters meet at 8:30 a.m. Wednesdays at 1750 E. Sahara Ave. Guests are welcome (873-9035).
      The Yucca Mountaineers Toastmasters meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the Hillshire Facility, 1515 Hillshire Drive in Summerlin. Guests are welcome (295-5056).
      The Bachelors and Bachelorettes Toastmasters Club meets at 6:15 p.m. Wednesdays. The group is open to singles who are interested in improving their communication skills. Guests are welcome. Call 393-0032 for information.
      The Starmasters Toastmasters meet at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane. Guests are invited (369-1863).
      The Freetoasters Toastmasters meet at 7:30 a.m. Thursdays at 3773 Howard Hughes Parkway, Third Floor, South Tower. Visitors are welcome (893-3142).
      The Burnttoast Toastmasters Club meets at 6 p.m. Thursdays at Mable Hoggard Science Center, 950 Tonopah Way. Those who wish to improve their communication and leadership skills are invited (631-0000).
     
     Field trip
     
      The Red Rock Audubon Society will sponsor an easy walking field trip to Tule Springs from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Call 382-3327 for reservations and information.
     
     Support groups
     
      Take Off Pounds Sensibly meets at 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays at Advent Methodist Church, 3460 N. Rancho Drive, (658-5171) and 9 a.m. Thursdays at 1106 N. Nellis Blvd. (453-3233).
      Family and Child Treatment of Southern Nevada provides a support group for mothers of children who have been sexually abused. Meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Call 258-5855 for more information.
      The Bipolar Manic-Depressive Support Group meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Nevada Association for the Handicapped, 6200 W. Oakey Blvd. Family and friends are welcome. There is no fee (870-5070).
      The Caregiver Support Group, for those caring for the terminally ill, will hold its next meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday at Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St. (733-0320).
      Relief For Hurting Parents is a support group for those dealing with rebellious teen-agers. The group meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays at First Church of the Nazarene, 3825 Pecos/McLeod Interconnect (451-6000).
      The Southern Nevada Action Council hosts a weekly support group for persons affected by mental illness. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. Thursdays at 1752 Blue Spruce Circle (457-7625).
      Gamblers Anonymous of Southern Nevada holds day and evening meetings in Las Vegas. Those with a gambling problem who want to quit may call the 24-hour hot line (385-7732) for meeting schedules or immediate help.
      Codependents Anonymous offers a 12-step program for those coping with codependent behaviors. Call 393-3346 for meeting times and locations.
      Working to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect (WE CAN) offers free weekly parenting, education and support groups. Call 368-1533 for more information.
      Gam-Anon, a 12-step support group for family and friends of the compulsive gambler, holds meetings throughout the week. Call 731-0905 for more information.
      Alcoholics Anonymous holds meetings throughout the week in the Las Vegas area. Call 598-1888 for help or information.
      Survival After Treatment is a support group for recovering alcoholics interested in shared cooperative living. Call 898-0054 for more information.
     
     Card club
     
      The Riviera Shark Card Club, for those age 55 years or older, meets at 11 a.m. Wednesdays. Call 453-5175 for more information.
     
     ROWC event
     
      The Retired Officers Wives Club will meet for bridge Wednesday in the Officers Club at Nellis Air Force Base. Call 735-2646 for reservations or information.
     
     Jaycees
     
      The Las Vegas Jaycees meet at 8 p.m. Wednesdays at 1913 S. Eastern Ave. (457-8832).
     
     Home schooling
     
      Home Schools United Plus meets each Wednesday. The group offers extra curriculum, field trips and organized gatherings for those who home school. Call 225-3343 for more information.
     
     Singles groups
     
      The Funtimers, a group for singles of all ages, meets each Wednesday and Friday. Call 387-3887 for more information.
      Dinner With Singles is a group of business and professional people who meet weekly for dinners at various restaurants. New members are welcome (226-4023).
     
     Dance club
     
      The Swinging Stars Square Dance Club holds a dance each Wednesday. Call 876-4396 for information.
     
     Business workshop
     
      The workshop "Issues Facing Small Businesses in Nevada" will be offered from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. Admission is free (486-2750).
     
     Newcomers club
     
      The Desert Newcomers Club, a social group for women who have lived in the area three years or less, will hold an orientation coffee at 10 a.m. Thursday at Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Library (564-1883).
     
     Retired Teamsters
     
      The Southern Nevada Teamsters Retiree Association will hold its next meeting at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at 305 Wall St. Retirees new to the area may call 362-4762 for more information.
     
     Bridge club

      The Tall Club of Las Vegas meets for happy hour at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Whistle Stop, 2839 W. Sahara Ave. Those who meet minimum height requirements of 5 feet 10 inches for women and 6 feet 2 inches for men are invited (253-5552).
     
     HWY 61 meeting
     
      HWY 61, a social group for people interested in the music, writings and art of Bob Dylan, meets at 6 p.m. Thursdays at WoodWorks, 5150 W. Spring Mountain Road (220-9194).
     
     Scrabble club
     
      The Scrabble Club, No. 391, meets at 6 p.m. Thursdays and 1 p.m. Sundays in the cafeteria at Rehabilitation Hospital of Nevada, 1250 S. Valley View Blvd. (256-3220).
     
     Crafts workshop
     
      Guinn Community Center, 6480 Fairbanks St., will hold a crafts workshop at 6 p.m. Thursday. The class will focus on holiday baskets. Cost is $6. Call 455-8393 to register.
     
     CCI meeting
     
      The Nevada Champions Volunteer Group for Canine Companions for Independence will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd. Becky Ryan of Rehabilitation Hospital of Nevada will speak on spinal-cord injuries. The public is invited (739-6569).
     
     New group
     
      Rolling Readers USA is forming a Las Vegas chapter for those who wish to learn about volunteering. A meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday. Call 369-5124 for more information.
     
     Barbershop chorus
     
      The Las Vegas Gamble-aires Men's Barbershop Chorus meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays at Christ Lutheran Church, 111 Torrey Pines Drive. Men of all ages who enjoy singing are welcome (454-7620).
     
     LST Association
     
      The Amphibious Forces of the United States and the LST Association of Nevada will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Marine Corps League, 4360 W. Spring Mountain Road.      Lodge meeting
