UNLV hosts ceramic exhibits during conference


     The annual National Conference on Education for the Ceramic Arts will be held April 2-5 in the city of Las Vegas. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas will sponsor the conference, hosting clay exhibits.
      The group is the largest organization of it's type and is comprised of educators, artists and other clay workers.
      The Donna Beam Fine Art Gallery will host the Regional Juried Student Exhibit, a selection of clay pieces created by students from all over the west through April 5. A reception is set 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. April 2 at the gallery.
      The Jessie Metcalf Gallery at the Richard Tam Alumni Center will host "Beyond Serving" an invitational show of platters created by professional clay artists. The exhibit will run April 1 to May 2. A reception is 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. April 2 in the gallery.
      "Shake and Grind," an exhibit of sculptural and fuctional salt and pepper shakers, is presented at Grant Hall Gallery. It is an exhibit of ceramic sculptural and functional salt and pepper shakers that are sculptural, whimsical and functional.
