By Joyce E. Lupiani Review-Journal Big Game Club restaurant, 4747 Faircenter Parkway, received 25 demerits on April 21. A C grade was posted. Violations included outdated buttermilk and half-and-half; using sterno to hot-hold chicken fingers; raw chicken and burgers stored above sauce; interior of ice machine slimy; and knives stored in crack between tables. A reinspection on April 22 revealed five demerits and the establishment was upgraded to an A. Burger King, Boulder Station, 4111 S. Boulder Highway, received 13 demerits on April 22. A B grade was posted. Violations included cheddar cheese stored on top of ice, not cooled to safe temperatures; soda machine operates when ice bin open, microswitch broken; employee did not have health card; no thermometer in front reach-in cooler; and ceiling dirty in area around manager's office. Charlie's Bar & Grill, 2089 N. Jones Blvd., received 19 demerits on April 21 in the restaurant area. A B grade was posted. Violations included unapproved outside storage area; towel used to cover food; wipe cloths not stored in sanitizer; employees not washing hands between handling food and clean utensils; cooler on cook's line not cooled to proper temperature; two pans of beef patties had bad odor and color, undated; outside walk-in cooler unlocked, vents and shelves dirty; milk stored on floor of walk-in cooler; undated food in walk-in cooler; knives stored between tables; freezer door and gaskets in disrepair; and dirty ceilings and walls. A reinspection on April 24 revealed five demerits and the establishment was upgraded to an A. China Inn Restaurant, 894 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, received 24 demerits on April 24. A C grade was posted. Violations included dirty can opener, soda nozzles and ice machine; no soap at hand-wash sink; egg rolls and meatballs in steam table not heated to safe temperatures; foods stored on floor of walk-in cooler; wipe cloths not stored in sanitizer; urine odor in men's restroom; and dirty floors. China Queen, 4825 S. Rainbow Blvd., received 27 demerits on April 23. A C grade was posted. Violations included pork cooling in front of back door; meat and chicken sitting on counter top at unsafe temperatures; employee eating from bowl directly above prep table; bathroom door propped open; and interior of microwave dirty. A reinspection on April 24 revealed 10 demerits and the establishment was upgraded to an A. Godfather's Pizza, 2269 N. Green Valley Parkway, Henderson, received 20 demerits on April 24. A B grade was posted. Violations included grease leaking from seals on large mixer; glass shaker stored inside container of cornmeal; uncovered container of lard; uncovered food in walk-in cooler; no paper towels at back hand sink; access to front hand sink blocked; can opener dirty; foam cup used as scoop in cheese; wipe cloths not stored in sanitizer; and unfinished wooden shelf in prep area. A reinspection on April 25 revealed four demerits and the establishment was upgraded to an A. La Cocina Mexicana, 1201 Stewart Ave., received 14 demerits on April 21. A B grade was posted. Violations included food items left uncovered after use; employees not washing hands as often as needed; pan of chips set on hand sink; clean utensils placed in dirty containers, and plates and bowls stored on prep table. Loading Dock saloon, 4510 S. Arville St., received 13 demerits on April 23. A B grade was posted. Violations included employee washing hands in three-compartment sink; no soap or paper towels at hand sink; nozzles on drink gun slimy; clean glasses stored next to hand sink with no barrier; improper drain line; and dirty fan covers. Marn Lai Express, 2605 Windmill Parkway, Henderson, received 35 demerits on April 23. A C grade was posted. Violations included chicken and pork not properly cooled to safe temperatures; raw beef stored next to fried shrimp; uncovered food containers; hot water temperature not hot enough; dishes not washed at proper temperatures; tray of rice on floor; unlabeled containers of food; wipe cloths not stored in sanitizer; no chemical test strips for sanitizer; dirty food-contact and nonfood-contact surfaces; bowls used as scoops and ice machine scoop stored improperly; broken vent in restroom; and hole in wall of restroom. Popeye's Famous Fried Chicken, 2421 W. Bonanza Road, received 17 demerits on April 23. A B grade was posted. Violations included small reach-in cooler not cooled to proper temperature; employee observed running hands through hair, scratching face and ears, and returning to making biscuits without washing hands; access to hand sink blocked; employee working with expired health card; employees not wearing hair restraints; various nonfood-contact surfaces dirty; and missing floor tiles. Sammy O'Brien's grill, 4435 Las Vegas Blvd. North, received 17 demerits on April 17. A B grade was posted. Violations included cold baked potatoes stored with fresh potatoes; chicken improperly thawing in hand sink; raw eggs stored over uncovered pan of hash browns in walk-in cooler; no soap at hand sink; unlabeled and undated prepped foods in cooler; and bottom of reach-in cooler dirty.
Sneakers restaurant, 2250 E. Tropicana Ave., received 14 demerits on April 11. A B grade was posted. Violations included raw meat stored above pickle bucket in walk-in cooler; dirty can opener and microwave; sanitizer not available; no thermometer in reach-in cooler; domestic toaster in use; handles to reach-in cooler dirty; and pipe extended into the floor drain. TCBY Treats, Boulder Station, 4111 S. Boulder Highway, received 17 demerits on April 22. A B grade was posted. Violations included deli cooler not cooled to proper temperature; no thermometer in deli cooler; chemicals stored near utensils; access to hand sink blocked, items stored in hand sink; food stored on floor in freezer; unlabeled and undated food containers; and soda machine splash area, blender splash area and yogurt machines dirty. A reinspection on April 25 revealed one demerit and the establishment was upgraded to an A. Tortas El Rey, 1900 E. Charleston Blvd., received 47 demerits on April 22. A C grade was posted. The establishment voluntarily closed. Violations included food items left out at room temperature after use; food handlers not washing hands after handling meat and before filling drinks; chemicals stored on shelf with food products; uncovered food in walk-in cooler; ice scoop handle in ice; three-compartment sink filthy; inaccurate thermometers in refrigerator and freezer; no sanitizer in the establishment; windows open; and dirty floors and walls. A reinspection on April 23 revealed zero demerits and was upgraded to an A. The establishment reopened. Wild Oats Community Market deli, 3455 E. Flamingo Road, received 19 demerits on April 24. A B grade was posted. Violations included condiments, cheese and refried beans stored in bins on top of ice, foods unable to be maintained at safe temperatures; single-service bowls used as scoops in various products; no paper towels at hand sink; carrot-juice extractor dirty; three-compartment sink not properly maintained; vegetable steamer stored on dirty drainboard; and domestic microwave was in use. The meat department at Wild Oats Market received 38 demerits on April 24. A C grade was posted. Violations included missing heat lamps in hot-holding display case, foods not maintained at safe temperatures; chicken not heated to safe temperatures; no thermometer in chicken display case or one of the fish display cases; soup was being cooked on two-burner stove without a hood; feta cheese stored next to raw meat, cheese container covered in blood spills; oven chemicals stored in meat-processing room and above ice machine; raw fish fillets and cooked shellfish stored overlapping in fish display case, serious risk of contamination; personal drinks stored in ice machine; missing lids on numerous food containers; bowls floating in food products; food stored on floor of walk-in freezer and processing room; employee not wearing a hair restraint; dirty knives stored with clean knives; racks, counters, food trays, sausage maker, grinder, meat slicer, ice machine, vents, oven doors and wipe cloths all dirty; no sanitizer available at work stations; three domestic crock pots in use; missing floor tile; and facility cramped by unused equipment. The following establishments have been reinspected: Blueberry Hill Family Restaurant, 3790 E. Flamingo Road, received one demerit on April 18 and was upgraded to an A. China Lord Restaurant, 6820 W. Flamingo Road, received zero demerits on April 25 and was upgraded to an A. Consuelo's Mexican Food, Broadacres Swap Meet, 2930 Las Vegas Blvd. North, received one demerit on April 26 and was upgraded to an A. Crocodile Cafe & Lounge, 4500 E. Sunset Road, Henderson, received one demerit April 21 in its lounge area and was upgraded to an A. The cafe received four demerits and was also upgraded to an A. Donut Palace, 6679 Smoke Ranch Road, received five demerits on April 25 and was upgraded to an A. Draft House Barn & Casino, 4543 N. Rancho Drive, received one demerit on April 17 and was upgraded to an A. El Pollo Loco, 4015 S. Decatur Blvd., received four demerits on April 23 and was upgraded to an A. Fremont Chinese kitchen, 200 E. Fremont St., received zero demerits on April 17 and was upgraded to an A. Ligouri's Restaurant & Casino, 1133 N. Boulder Highway, received four demerits on April 21 and was upgraded to an A. Pac Out Big West Burgers, 139 Water St., Henderson, received eight demerits on April 18 and was upgraded to an A. Pizza Hut, 308 N. Boulder Highway, Henderson, received seven demerits on April 25 and was upgraded to an A. Roberto's Taco Shop, 4604 E.
