Positions available for helpers

     Adopt-a-trail workers. To hike trails at Mount Charleston and keep them clear of debris, rocks and brush; inform public of trail conditions.
      Big Brothers/Big Sisters. To spend time weekly with children from single-parent families.
      Couriers. To assist with delivery of medical equipment such as bedside commodes, walkers, wheelchairs, etc.
      Domestic crisis counselors. To interview victims of domestic violence and transport them to Laughlin safe house or hotel; provide advocacy for domestic violence victims.
      Drivers. To pick up clients and take them to miscellaneous appointments, shopping trips or errands. Assignments are flexible depending on the volunteer's availability. Mileage paid.
      Exotic animal managers. To do cleaning, feeding, health maintenance, clerical work and some hands-on interaction with animals at an exotic animal preserve.
      Food servers. To help serve food and clean tables for homeless shelter.
      Foster grandparents. To be loving grandparents to children with special needs.
      Fund-raisers. To assist with fund-raising efforts for a nonprofit agency that provides for the rescue and rehabilitation of abused and neglected exotic animals.
      Home away from home workers. To do interviewing, phoning and public relations work. Excellent communication skills required.
      Horse lovers. To walk beside, lead and groom horses ridden by mentally or physically challenged riders; support fund-raising activities; contribute ideas and expertise.
      Hospice volunteer education course workers. To train volunteers providing emotional and practical support to the terminally ill and their families.
      Phone assistants. To answer phones and record complaints for callers with consumer problems.
      Root-beer float makers. To make and sell root-beer floats at special event May 30, 31 and June 1.
      Ski or snowboard patrollers. Recruiting now for volunteers to provide customer assistance and medical rescue services.
