Review-Journal CARSON CITY -- Several events to celebrate Mental Health Month are scheduled in Las Vegas at the Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services offices beginning Monday. "This is a time for the entire community to come together in support of behavioral health care treatment," said Carlos Brandenburg, administrator of the Division of Mental Hygiene and Mental Retardation. James Northrop, director of the Southern Nevada mental health offices, said the first event, an open house featuring the topic: "Eat right, sleep right, exercise and socialize" will take place at two locations beginning Monday and running weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the end of the month.
The event, designed to provide simple things to do for good mental health, will be at the southeast office, 1820 E. Sahara Ave., Suite 109, and at the Henderson office, 98 E. Lake Mead Drive in the St. Rose Dominican Medical Plaza. At 1 p.m. Wednesday, representatives of drug companies will be at the North Las Vegas office, 2121 N. Las Vegas Blvd., to discuss medications and their side effects. The event is open to patients, family members and the public. On May 30, from 1 to 3 p.m., the psycho-social program is sponsoring a line dance for patients and family members at 6161 W. Charleston Blvd.
