A new community information center operated by the American Association of Retired Persons opened Thursday in Las Vegas.
The center is an addition to the Cannon Center, 340 N. 11th St., near Bonanza Road.
The organization focuses on health and long-term care, economic security and work and consumer issues, said Margaret Dixon, national president for the organization.
"This will be a multipurpose center type place where people can go to get information," Dixon said. "It will serve as sort of one-stop shopping for everybody."
The addition to the Cannon Center signifies the growth in Las Vegas, said organization representatives, who hope it will be a major resource for elderly residents.
