planned for Fourth
Fourth of July celebrations will erupt throughout the Las Vegas Valley at the following places:
--Patriotic Parade, 9 a.m., Hillpointe Road and Hills Center Drive, Summerlin.
--Henderson Fourth of July celebration at 5 p.m., Morrell Park, 500 Harris St. Fireworks at dusk.
--Red, White & Boom at 5 p.m., Desert Breeze Park, 8425 Spring Mountain Road. Fireworks at about 9 p.m.
--Star-Spangled Celebration with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, concert at 7:30 p.m., Hills Park, 9002 Hillpointe Road. Fireworks after concert.
--Las Vegas Motor Speedway's fireworks, after 8 p.m. race, 7000 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
--July Fourth Spectacular, fireworks, 9 p.m., Desert Willow Golf Course, 2020 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, Henderson.
--Texas Station/Fiesta fireworks, 8:45 p.m., 2101 Texas Star Lane and 2400 N. Rancho Drive.
--Santa Fe's fireworks, 9:30 p.m., 4949 N. Rancho Drive.
--Boulder City's Damboree, pancake breakfast, Bicentennial Park, 7 a.m. Parade at 9 a.m. Central Park festivities at 10 a.m. Fireworks, entertainment, food at airport off Adams Boulevard, 7 p.m.
--North Las Vegas City Breakfast, 7 a.m., Eldorado Park, 5900 Camino Eldorado Blvd.
--Stratosphere fireworks, 10 p.m., 2000 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
Teens' accusations
lead to man's arrest
A Las Vegas man was being held Friday on sexual assault and lewdness charges after two teen-age boys accused him of committing the crimes during the past six months.
Las Vegas police initiated the investigation of Richard Capri, 45, after the pastor of a local church contacted them.
Police said the boys, ages 13 and 16, told the pastor that Capri had taken them to his home on Abalone Way in The Lakes, where he showed them pornographic movies, gave them methamphetamine and performed sex acts with them.
Capri remained in custody Friday at the Clark County Detention Center in lieu of $265,000 bail.
A jail spokeswoman said the suspect is being held on nine counts of sexual assault on a victim under the age of 16, four counts of sexual assault and nine counts of lewdness with a minor.
